What is hand tremor - causes, symptoms and treatment methods
The main causes of tremor
- physical overstrain: lifting weights, holding a static posture (toFor example, if you are inconvenient in transport to take up the handrail), the general fatigue of the body;
- the effects of alcohol, very strong tea, coffee or "energy drinks";
- toxic poisoning;
- drug breaking;
- side effects of various drugs (most often they can be found out by carefully reading the instructions for the drug);
- strong emotional outbursts;
- a sharp drop in blood sugar levels, usually in diabetes (so-called hypoglycemia);
- diseases of the endocrine system (adrenal glands, thyroid, etc.).
Is it possible to cure tremor at home
Before you decide whether you can do it yourself or need the help of a doctor, determine the type of tremor.
Normal tremor is also called physiological or benign. As the name implies, the causes of hand tremor in this case are rooted in normal physiological processes, and not pathologies. This includes the hypothermia shaking mentioned above, the tremor of the arms and legs after intense physical exertion or emotional outbursts. In addition to the tremor of the hands, there is also a tremor of the head, torso, less often of the legs, there is a tremor of the lips, fingers, a tremor of the right or left hand, etc. In newborns, chin tremor can also be observed.
To normal can be attributed, and family (hereditary) tremor. Hereditary tremor of the head, arms and legs is found in elderly people as well as in young people and even children.
Normal tremor is usually not even felt by humans. Most often for some time it passes on its own. Sometimes the hands stop shaking after a few minutes, and in other cases the body may need a week or two to recover.
A tremor in the arms, legs, or head that does not go away for a long time may indicate damage to the brain stem, subcortex, or cerebellum. Such serious diseases as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease (see video) and Konovalov-Wilson can be the reasons for the constant shaking of the hands. The treatment of these ailments should be carried out under strict medical supervision. However, do not rush to set yourself such serious diagnoses, perhaps you yourself “screwed up”, and the tremor has increased due to nervous overstrain.
A child's hands shake: pathology or norm
If your child complains of tremor, talk to him, try to find out possible reasons. Of course, this is not about newborns. Find out if you are nervouschild. Remember that emotional reactions in adolescents are much stronger than in adults. Often the hands of teenagers tremble, for example, after an exam or an important control.
A child's hand shake may be associated with heavy loads in school. If the arms or legs are trembling in a teenager, the cause is most likely a hormone oversupply, stress, and underdeveloped muscles. During the period of rapid growth, the body does not have time to form a supporting muscle frame.
It will be harder to determine the causes of shivering in newborns. If we are talking about tremor in infants, it is important to distinguish the tremor of the limbs and the head. If a kid's hands tremble when he cries, his legs or chin are perfectly normal, he just has not formed yetnerve centers. But if you notice a head tremor in a newborn - do not hesitate to go to the pediatrician, such a symptom may indicate serious problems with the nervous system. Sometimes a dangerous symptom that requires serious examination may be tremor in newborns during sleep or immediately after waking up. However, it is unlikely that one of the moms needs to be reminded once again what care a developing organism of a small child requires.
What to do if your hands began to tremble
If you first encountered the phenomenon of hand tremor, the causes can be very difficult to determine. The main thing in this situation - to remain calm.Sometimes it is enough to squeeze the fists for a few seconds. If it does not help - give up time from coffee and strong tea, drink more water. Try not to abuse chocolate. Exercise in the morning, try to stretch your legs a little every day, take a walk in the fresh air before going to bed. Read good books, relax, fill yourself with positive emotions.
Of course, alcohol and cigarettes should be excluded. Here we make a small digression:
Treatment of tremor of the hands of folk remedies
If the shaking of hands for you is a familiar phenomenon, you can try to cope with it using traditional methods. Of course, such treatment is suitable only for those people whose reasons for shaking hands are rooted in heredity or excessive emotionality. In pathological tremor, only a doctor can determine the correct treatment. Folk methods can help with "age" tremor - for example, in newborns and the elderly.
Try to prepare yourself soothing decoctions of these "drugs":
- white willow bark;
- Maryin root;
- Valerian root (you can take pills or tincture).
Get plenty of rest. It would be nice to enroll in yoga, in the pool, to master the techniques of meditation. Get yourself a hobby developing fine motor skills. Embroider, create jewelry from beads, knit, cut out figures from a tree. You can buy in the art store the so-called "thermoplastin", from which very beautiful and durable jewelry is obtained. By the way, if you have children or grandchildren, connect them to your lesson, there are incredibly many advantages in joint work!
Hand or foot shake can be observed in people of any age, be it a child, an adult or an elderly person. Tremor of the arms and legs occurs in men and women, in newborns and people “in the prime of life”. Do not be afraid to talk about this problem out loud: perhaps some of your friends and relatives will share their experience in treating trembling hands.
