Smoker countries

In many countries of the world, smoking in public places is strictly forbidden, and smokers, in order to satisfy their needs, have to hide from the guardians of the law and conscientious citizens. But there are countries in which you can smoke freely and it is about such countries that will be discussed today.

Andorra

In Andorra, life expectancy is one of the highest in the world, and this is surprising, considering how much locals smoke. You can smoke here not only on the street, but also in any bars and restaurants. Smokers from all over Europe come to Andorra also because the entire territory of this tiny state is a huge duty-free zone, and this means that you can buy cigarettes cheaper than in other countries that make tobacco products very expensive to wean people from smoking.

Bulgaria

Although the ban on smoking in public places has been active in Bulgaria since 2005, it has not particularly affected the number of tobacco fans. Smoking is prohibited in public transport, hospitals, schools, universities and theaters. But in restaurants, fearing to scare off tourists, they allowed me to smoke again: in small cafes, the owners can choose whether they want to see a smoking public, and large establishments should simply equip non-smoking areas. In Bulgaria, 39% of adults smoke, and most women prefer not to part with a cigarette, even during pregnancy.

Hungary

In Hungary, 38% of respondents said they were committed to tobacco. Although some citizens are in favor of adopting a law banning smoking at bus stops, it’s still far from being approved by the government. True, in some places you still have to let a cigarette out of your hands: since July 18, it is forbidden to smoke in the underground passages of Budapest, and about a year ago the ban on smoking in the playgrounds of the capital was passed. And be sure to check the local rules before the trip: in a number of cities, such as Dombovar, Kaposvar, Seksard and some others, local restrictions on tobacco use in public places, within a radius of 50 meters from educational and medical institutions, are introduced.

Greece

Greeks are called the most smoking nation in the world - almost half of the adult population of the country loves to smoke.Despite all bans on smoking in public places, the desire of the government to change the situation, clubs, restaurants and other public places throughout the country are buried in clubs of tobacco smoke. The Greeks claim that a cigarette is not only a habit, but also part of their image, which they are not going to change.

Egypt

Formally, for several years in this country there is a ban on smoking in the offices of state services. True, punitive measures do not particularly frighten anyone, the fine is small, and no one is especially watching the execution of this law. In other public places, no one pays special attention to smokers either, and the hookah is considered a national hobby at all. The government is making some efforts to influence the situation, but rather sluggishly. Needless to say, no one is trying to restrict the smoking rights of tourists. Just to bring the money!

Spain

Despite the fact that most Western European countries are struggling with smoking, the Spaniards still cannot imagine themselves without cigarettes. Although since 2006, laws restricting tobacco use have been introduced in this state, no one takes them seriously and the owners of bars and restaurants look at smokers. But lovers of smoke should be hurry: at the end of 2010, the government is going to make another attempt to make the Spaniards civilized and plans to impose more stringent restrictions on smoking in closed rooms.

Serbia

This is another country where you can keep a cigarette round the clock. Women, men and even adolescents smoke everywhere, without fear of either sidelong eyes or laws. All smoking bans in Serbia are formal, and almost no one pays attention to them. Bars and restaurants still allow everyone to smoke inside, and no one sees anything unusual in the way these gentlemen smoke cigarettes with a crossed out cigarette.

Czech

Have you heard about the ban on smoking at stations and transport stops in the Czech Republic? Forget it! From July 1, there again it will be possible to smoke! The government recognized the ban ineffective and lifted it. But the owners of cafes and restaurants will have to decide whether to let the smoke in their institution, and hang on the door of the corresponding red or green signs. If the club is large, you can make it universal, but you will need to fence the non-smoking area and ventilate there.Although this is unlikely to force someone to part with a bad habit in a country where every fourth smokes.

Japan

Country of the rising sun will meet smokers with open arms, because smoking is allowed everywhere, including bars and restaurants. And given the low cost of cigarettes, Japan can be called a paradise for tobacco lovers. However, there is talk that soon this state will ban smoking on the beaches.
