Rhino female dispersed herd of elephants

March 28, 2018

Martin Meyer became a witness of interesting events during a visit to a national park in South Africa in mid-January. A herd of 15 elephants met on its way a female rhino with a calf. When the elephants approached about 20 meters to the rhinoceros, the female rushed sharply toward the herd, sensing the danger to her baby. Despite the fact that the rhino female weighs up to two tons, and the adult African elephant can weigh almost three, the elephants decided not to get involved with a crazy mother with a half meter horn and retreated. They still stood for a few minutes, looking at each other, then the rhinos left, freeing the way for the elephants.
