House Flowers: Nightshade and Peculiarities of Care

Basic rules for the care

The nightshade, like the rest of the plants belonging to the family of the nightshade, was brought from South America. There are more than one and a half thousand representatives of this family, among which there are vegetable and ornamental species. Care for solanaceae and their reproduction is easily carried out in mid-latitudes, which made room nightshade a favorite in Ukraine and Russia.

Temperature and moisture

Caring for such a plant is somewhat different in the spring-summer and autumn-winter period. The best temperature in the summer will be 19 - 25 degrees. It is in such conditions that the plant will feel great. In winter, it is advisable to put a bush in a room where the temperature is at least 18 degrees.

Wrong temperature conditions will lead to the fact that the plant will release a few flowers. Accordingly, the fruit on it will be tied a little.

Nightshade loves moisture.For this reason, it is very important to prevent drying of the soil. Keep the soil slightly moist. In summer, watering should be carried out more often than in winter. On the hottest days you will have to water the nightshade every day. To ensure proper care, you can purchase special accessories for automatic watering in the flower shop. If you go on vacation for a few days, you can pour water into the pan to protect the nightshade from lack of moisture.

Spraying plantsProper care involves periodic spraying of the plant. The nightshade likes high humidity, which must be considered when choosing its habitat. The plant will not feel well near a heat source during the heating season. Do not forget to spray the plant once every few days, which will provide a suitable microclimate for the flower. At the same time during the flowering period it is necessary to closely monitor that the water does not fall on the flowers. It is advisable to purchase a hygrometer that will show the level of humidity in the room. You can put a pot on a pallet with wet clay.

Illumination

If there is little light in the room, the room nightshade will stretch in length, which is highly undesirable for the plant. Such a flora "loves" good light. In the summer, you can take the nightshade to the home garden, to the balcony, or to the veranda, since it feels good in the fresh air. And one more rule that should be guided when caring for the room nightshade. This plant necessarily needs pruning. This process should be done in such a way that a beautiful bush of the correct shape is formed. Pruning is carried out after ripening of the fruit, at the moment when the first yellow leaves appear.

Transplantation and nightshade

A transplant of a plant is made after pruning. In no case can not transplant the nightshade, if the bush flowers remained. It is very important to choose a suitable soil. We recommend placing pebbles, broken bricks or a claydite layer about 2 to 3 centimeters thick at the bottom of the vase. This will prevent stagnation of excess moisture and rotting of the root system. The soil should consist of peat, leaf or sod land. They should be mixed in equal proportions.You can buy ready-made mixture, which is sold in flower shops. After transplantation, nightshade should be poured abundantly and then maintained in the usual manner.

Plant transplantPropaganda room nightshade can be produced by seed or cuttings. In the first case, you need to prepare a container with leaf soil. On its surface it is necessary to evenly distribute the seeds of the plant, then sprinkle them with a small layer of sand. The container must be placed in a warm place for seed germination. It is advisable to cover it with a transparent film. Seed shoots should dive two times during the intensive growth phase. After that, young plants can be planted in the ground, after which the care is carried out according to the standard scheme.

Reproduction by cuttings is faster than reproduction by seeds. As cuttings can be used cut branches of nightshade. They are best rooted in a mixture of peat and sand. After the stalk has taken root, it is necessary to transplant it into suitable soil. Even young plants are able to throw flowers away if they are given proper care.

In order to properly care for the flower, should be periodically feeding. The most suitable are liquid fertilizers for flowering flora, which can be found in any flower shop.

But it is not necessary to carry out top dressing more often than 2-3 times a month, it can negatively affect the plant. It is necessary to choose fertilizers, which contain the following substances:

  • phosphorus;
  • potassium;
  • nitrogen.

Room nightshade is an excellent plant that can be grown at home. Given its toxicity, we do not recommend keeping it in a house where there are small children or pets. Nightingales care is not a big deal. He can even beginner flower growers. The plant will delight you with flowering and fruits that give originality to this flora.
